 Another wonderful achievement New

We are a small, friendly village school in the charming village of Gainford which is between Barnard Castle and
Darlington in County Durham.

The aim of the school :-
To provide a safe, welcoming and happy Christian school, set within both the local and global community where academic potential is fulfilled and positive values are nurtured.

Excerpts from July 2015 Ofsted Inspection

  • Pupils are very happy at school. Warm and trusting relationships underpin the enjoyment of learning and pupils’ sense of being safe and valued. As a result behaviour is excellent.
  • Parents have full confidence in the school to look after their children
  • Everyone is included and respected.
  • The school’s creative approach to topics provides exciting learning opportunities which inspire pupils and contribute strongly to their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, as well as their awareness of British values.
  • Leadership is highly effective at all levels
  • Pupils of all abilities and backgrounds achieve well
  • A relentless focus on improving reading, writing and mathematics has been very successful.

Extracts from the Church (SIAMS) Inspection – September 2015

  • The teaching of Jesus “to love your neighbour as yourself” is lived out and is seen in the excellent behaviour and caring, supportive relationships between all in the school community.
  • Christian values are embedded in the daily life of the school, contributing to the good progress and attainment of every pupil. All are valued and nurtured as children of God and academic and personal achievements are equally celebrated.
  • Outstanding teaching of Religious Education (RE) makes a significant contribution to pupils’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural development, (SMSC) their understanding of Christianity and social diversity.
  • Excellent curricular opportunities for SMSC have allowed children to flourish and to develop as rounded, confident and articulate individuals.
  • Established and highly effective links with the local church and community have ensured that Gainford School is at the heart of the community it serves making a positive contribution to village life
