160th Birthday Song

As part of our 160th Birthday Celebrations, with Mrs. McLachlan's help, our juniors wrote a song to mark the occasion.

Gainford CE Primary School’s 160th Birthday Song

School time, it’s laugh and learn time,
It’s joining in time, where lessons rule.
Hold hands and have a fun time,
Enjoy our playtimes, at Gainford School.

Built in eighteen, fifty-seven,
It’s time to party and celebrate,
One hundred and sixty years of,
Happy memories, it’s really great.

Greswold the local vicar,
Raised a small sum to purchase land,
The Duke of, Cleveland gifted,
Even more land for us to expand.

Built in eighteen, fifty-seven,
It’s time to party and celebrate,
One hundred and sixty years of,
Happy memories, it’s really great.

Masters, now there’s been plenty,
Peart, Heeley, Cree, and Blindt and Bromley,
Hill and Lance Corporal Bayles
Went off to war for to fight the cause.

Built in eighteen fifty-seven,
It’s time to party and celebrate,
One hundred and sixty years of
Happy memories, it’s really great.

We’re steeped in lots of history
Two hundred children in eight’n eighty-four,
Mumps and scarlet fever, and
Enid Taylor, she tread the boards.

Give birthday cheer.
